This is something my mum used to say when we wanted to wear our pretty Summer cotton dresses in April. I always thought it was the month of May but actually think it is the plant
Well, she hasn't worn it yet but I have made my girl a pretty summer skirt.
I bought this gorgeous fabric from Holland Fabric House on etsy, to make something with to sell in my own etsy shop. But it was so lovely I knew I had to make something for my girl (and my mum said I should!).
After searching for ages, I found a free pattern on the lovely blog of Oliver + S. It is such a simple pattern so if you have a little girl, I urge you to try it.
So check out HollandFabricHouse and Oliver + S.
When May is out, I will show you a picture of the girl herself wearing the skirt.

Vote for me!!
I came up with the idea of a crested canary, which is based on a real canary we had when I was a child. He had a little crest of dark feathers that looked so much like a Beatles' mop top cut, that he was named Ringo. Oh, her tweet look so like him, it bought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye!

101 Things to Do With a Dorset Button
Make them into Rings!!
I love making Dorset Buttons. And they make really really great...buttons. But they look wonderful made into other things too.
Here is my latest a selection of rings. I made one for myself to trial, and it feels comfortable and looks lovely.
So have a look in my etsy, folksy or Artfire shop today!

Clearing & Cleaning & Decorating
It was mine before I met Paul, he moved in with all his stuff and then we had our daughter.
So the flat was getting a bit full.
But not so much anymore. The local charity shops have benefited. And I found a big bag of craft things from years and years ago. I have had fun this morning having a look through - embroidery, lace-making, knitting, teddy-bear making were all represented in this one bag.
The teddy bear components are going to a charity shop, I am keeping the bobbins as I enjoyed lace-making and want to do it again one day. I will use the embroidery silks. Included in the yarn are lots of Rowan and Yaeger yarns unused and still in their skeins with their labels - so I might use them or might destash and put them up for sale.
I will let you know what else I find!!
