I had a few strips that I had cut from Mary's old pyjamas that were too small to use in the rag rug. Then remembered that I wanted to curl Mary's hair. I had plaited it before over night but when I was a girl my mum used rags to curl it, and I also saw a few tutorials about zooloo/zoolu/zulu or Bantu curling.
So last night I had a go.

This is a picture of what her hair normally looks like. |

In the morning after taking curls out and putting my fingers through it. |

A few had loosened or came out during the night but for a first try we were both pleased.

What a pretty girl Mary is :-) I would love to have curly hair too, but it is a struggle. If I had a maid to put it in rags every night I might do it....
Thank you Amy - I don't know where she gets it from as it certainly is not from me.
It is not too bad doing it on someone else but maybe a struggle to do it on yourself. However, you can do large sections of hair so it is not too fiddly.
Beautiful girl, brings back memories of my mum doing my hair! x
Great bit of recycling. Mary's hair looks lovely. Sometimes the old methods really are the best!!!
Looks fab - my daughter and I both 'blessed' with head of curls. At 6 she was already yearning for straight hair.

Oh that's lovely...
love it! Mary is a beautiful girl :)
Lovely, but I think she looks even more lovely natural!
