The winner is...

Well, I put each entry on a bit of paper, threw them down and tried to get the cat to pick one. She ignored me. So I then threw them at her and the one that landed on her won!! (No cats were harmed in the drawing of this giveaway!).
So congratulations marieisabella. A pair of blue hair snaps will be on their way to you.

Marie has an etsy shop here. Her blog is here.

I really enjoyed doing this giveaway. Thank you to everyone who entered. It was really fun and interesting reading your comments. I will have to do another giveaway soon.

Snapdragon Beads

Isn’t it lovely when you receive something through the post? Better still when it is something you won in a blog giveaway, and best of all when it is from the talented Alice of Snapdragon Beads.
I entered her blog giveaway and won a pair of gorgeous earring. They are so lovely and intricate.
Do have a look at her work, she does the most amazing bead woven pieces.
In her etsy shop you will find these simply divine pendants.

And I think my favourite at the moment is theseVery Berry Octahedra Earrings

One of the reasons I love them so much is that they remind me of the blackberries we pick in the Autumn on Portsdown hill. I see these earrings and I am transported back there with berry juice on my clothes and the taste in my mouth.

And the other reason I love them is that they are fantastic! They look good, are wonderfully crafted and will look stunning in your ears.
So have a look at her shops, you will be sure to find beauty there.

Shopping and Ferdinand!

Green Frog
Originally uploaded by zabdiel

Yesterday my sister and I went on one of our regular (every few months!) trips visiting charity shops and having a good rummage.

So there we were thinking it was about time for a cup of coffee. I always look down as I am walking and saw this thing on the ground in front of my sister's foot. 'Don't look!' I yelled and shoved her (I am not very good in a crisis). We looked back and it was like a frog. She had sort of stepped on it but my warning cry had made her move in time not to squash it. We thought it was dead anyway.

We talked about where it might be from, crossed the road and walked back. We could see people walking past having a look so we crossed back over. It was a frog and it was alive but looked like it had hurt its leg. It certainly wasn't moving.

Anyway I warded off ferocious dogs, gave her my cloth shopping bag, a shop owner gave her a box, and my sister picked it up.

We walked to a pet shop and a helpful customer told us where there was a vets so we walked there. The frog livened up and kept jumping up and hitting my sis's hand. I got a bit hysterical at thoughts of it jumping out at me (I told you I was no good!).

Vet took the frog. So it is either out of its miseries or on its way to a wildlife place.

Oh and Ferdinand? That is what my sister called it.

We were pretty happy with ourselves - Frog Rescuers. (Well, she was a lot more of a rescuer than me!).

Serendipity this way comes...

As you know I make Dorset buttons, and also Dorset button hair snaps. I was playing around with the idea of making a pendant necklace and so had bought some thin ribbon to use.

Well, as often is the case...what I made is not what I planned. I still haven't made the pendant but made another hair snap. However, I am so pleased with the outcome.

Where I would normally use embroidery thread, I used the ribbon and wrapped this around the plastic ring. And the front of the ribbon hair snap, is what is usually on the back of the thread hair snaps. Confusing? I hope not.
The button on the back is also a new idea. I had used a small fabric flower but found, on the ones I made for my daughter, that after a while it looked a bit scruffy. The buttons look pretty and work well.
